YTB Vs Traverus: Why I Chose Traverus vs YTB

One of the primary reasons that I chose to join TraVerus Travel Network

has to do with a call my sponsor had me listen to, by

David Manning, the CEO and President of TraVerus Travel Network.

On the call, something that Mr. Manning said really got to me.

He stated that there is no such thing as “job security”.

That really got under my skin.

I was a very successful advertising consultant in the yellow pages industry, and had consistently made over six figures a year. I still really loved the job, and loved the people who owned the small to medium sized businesses that I worked with.

I was just burned out from all of the juggling that had gone in the last 3 years that I was employed.

Bought, stripped down to nothing, downsized and sold. Bought, stripped down to nothing, downsized and sold.

For a while, I comforted myself in the knowledge that most companies will never touch the sales force when they are looking to down size, and our sales force was really, really good.

What I didn’t count on was the fact that we would be overloaded, overworked, and overwhelmed.

I watched our pension plan get sliced and diced and handed back to us, along with our back sides.

I watched, and quite simply, I mentally checked out.

How fun is a job, when you are making a heck of a lot of money, pulling more than your weight, still hitting quota after ridiculously high quota, but have no time for family, or for a life?

While money is very important, some things are NOT worth it
. I really began to question whether or not giving 30 years of my life, my youth and my health would be worth it, when “the company” was doing everything in it’s power to renege on it’s promises of benefits and pension after I retired. AND, to know that the benefits I worked so hard for could be left on the bargaining table (we were union) after I had given away my life, family time and God knows what else? I didn’t think so.

So, I walked away, and went into Real Estate. Wow, is all I can say. If you don’t know what happened to the Real Estate market and what is still happening in the Real Estate market, where have you been? (Smile)

Seriously, the market tanked. My prospects dried up. My finances were even drier. But, I was determined to succeed, and to never ever work for anyone else again.

Struggling to make a living in Real Estate, my principle broker and now my really good friend, showed me YTB. He had joined, and made a really good presentation. I saw the benefits, and I was really excited. But, it was $500 to join, and I had to discuss it with my husband, come up with the money, and do the research, my own due diligence prior to making that kind of commitment.

So, excited about the opportunity, I talked to my husband, who loved it, and we decided that we would join. As I was preparing to make the call to my principle broker, I quickly did a search on Google, and was pretty disturbed by what I read. YTB had lost their IATAN status, which is essentially required in order to book travel directly with vendors. I also found that several direct vendors had severed relationships with YTB.

I just didn’t want to risk money we really didn’t have to spare on promises and maybe’s, so I called my friend, and we politely declined. I mentioned the reasons why I didn’t want to join, and he stated that he understood.

My husband and I were really disappointed, after all, all of the benefits of starting a home travel business were still there. All of the reasons, the industry, the timing, the opportunity were right. We just didn’t feel comfortable investing with doubts.

Two months went by, and I struggled at Real Estate. I told myself that if I could make it in this market, I would really do well when it rebounded. About that time, my friend called, and wanted to talk to me about a travel opportunity he had recently gotten involved in. I shook my head, thinking, is he senile? We had already said no!

My husband called and said that he would be meeting us at the house that night. NOW, I was hopping mad! I seethed all the way home, and walked in, ready to tell my husband off, and there sat my friend Tim.

Quickly, I regained composure, sat down and we listened to David Manning’s call. Tim shared with us that he had had no success with YTB, and that once he had found TraVerus, had quickly recovered his initial investment. The most he had ever been able to recruit into YTB was 11 people, and today, he sits with well over 100 people, in 3 months! Right then and there, I knew that this was right, that TraVerus was the opportunity we had been looking for and without thought of cost or due diligence, we joined TraVerus.

When I say we, I signed up, AND my husband signed up.

It has only been three months, and I have loved every minute of it
. I no longer practice Real Estate, and that is fine by me! I make more money with TraVerus than I ever made in Real Estate, and I’m quickly gaining on the six figure income I left behind.

If you are considering a home travel business, please be sure to do your due diligence before joining.

Sometimes being at the wrong place, at the right time can be a good thing. I know, I’m living proof.
